Your Stay

An important part of medical care is comfort: comfort with your medical providers, comfort with your treatment plan and your own personal comfort while you work to feel better. At Ashe Memorial Hospital, we strive to provide quality healthcare to our patients through considerate and respectful care.

Accommodations

Rooms at Ashe Memorial Hospital have been designed with both functionality and comfort in mind. While a hospital will never be as cozy as your own home, we hope our friendly staff and attention to your well-being will begin to make up for not being in your own bed. Our rooms feature televisions and private bathrooms. Rooms in the Wilma Vannoy Birthing Center also feature rocking chairs and a pullout bed for a support person.

Round-the-Clock Care

Regardless of where you are in Ashe Memorial Hospital, you will have access to nurses and physicians 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our medical-surgical (med-surg) and monitored bed units provide levels of care tailored specifically to post-surgical and acutely ill patients from infancy through adulthood. In the Wilma Vannoy Birthing Center, nurses, nurse anesthetists and physicians care for both you and your new arrival.

Many physicians you will see in the hospital are called hospitalists. These providers will care for you during your stay and keep any primary care physicians or specialists you see outside the hospital informed of your progress.

Nutrition Services

Eating right is an important part of getting better. Our clinical dietitian will make sure you are receiving nutritious food that meets any dietary requirements you have. Our dietitian will also work with you to establish a healthy diet to follow once you are discharged.

Medication Safety

If you are on any medications before being admitted to the hospital or if a provider here prescribes a new medication for you, those medications will be provided to you while you are in our hospital. For your safety, all medications have a barcode which will be scanned before the medication is given to you. Another barcode on your hospital bracelet will also be scanned. This ensures accurate tracking of medications.

Privacy

When you arrive at Ashe Memorial Hospital, you have the option of being a "restricted" patient. That means your name will not appear on the list at our front desks, phone calls cannot be connected to your room, and flowers and other deliveries cannot be made. Our staff is well-trained to maintain your privacy.
