Family Nurse Practitioner Takes Personal Approach to Patient Care

Amanda Bundy wanted to do more for her patients.

The former radiology technician felt compelled to be a source of comfort for her patients while providing them with the best possible care. Shortly after moving to Ashe County from Wilkesboro in 1998, Amanda decided to become a nurse.

Amanda earned her nursing degree from Wilkes Community College in 2001. She went on to obtain her Bachelor’s degree from Lees-McRae in 2006 and her Master’s degree from Frontier Nursing University in 2020.

In 2020, Amanda joined Mountain Family Care Center where she has been providing non-emergent care to patients of all ages.

“I really enjoy my patients,” Amanda says. “In my experience, they want to see someone who will treat them like a person, is willing to sit down and talk with them and provide them with options in their healthcare. We’re such a small community and people deserved to be treated well.”

Most recently, Amanda began offering adult primary care services to patients three days a week. Amanda sees primary care patients from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, by appointment. Primary care services typically include prevention, wellness exams and blood work, among other services.

In addition, Amanda is available to treat sick and walk-in patients on Wednesdays. Mountain Family Care Center is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. In the event Amanda in unavailable or out of the office, patients can talk to another member of the team or leave a message, and that information will get passed on to Amanda.

“That’s a bonus for our patients,” Amanda says. “Everyone looks at the building when they pass by, but they don’t realize what we have to offer.”

When she’s not busy working, Amanda enjoys spending time with her husband, Joey, daughter, Haley and son, Landon. She also enjoys gardening and playing with her pets.
