AMH welcomes new Human Resources Director
JEFFERSON, N.C. — Adam Younce was named Ashe Memorial Hospital’s new Human Resources Director on June 24.
A native of Miller’s Creek, Younce has more than 15 years of experience in human resources, having served in leadership roles at behavioral health hospitals across the country.
“We are excited to have Adam Younce join our leadership team,” Ashe Memorial Hospital CEO Brian Yates said. “His experience in recruitment, compliance, training, and employee relations will be instrumental as we continue to build a resilient, engaged, and high-performing team at Ashe Memorial Hospital.”
He began his career in human resources in 2010 while working as a human resources generalist and training specialist for Grandfather Home for Children in Banner Elk. Younce went on to work as a human resources manager for Acadia Healthcare before working as the human resources director for hospitals in Seatle, Wash. and Valdosta, Ga. Most recently, Younce served as the human resources director for Westpark Springs Hospital, in Richmond, Texas, where he was responsible for all phases of human resources within the facility.
“I enjoy being able to help people, and that’s been the driving force for all of this,” Younce said. “My mom worked in the emergency room as a nurse, and I saw the difference that she was able to make. I like the population here. In human resources, you have the ability to help people across the board.”
In his new role, Younce aims to be an advocate for Ashe Memorial Hospital employees and provide them with a safe and healthy work environment as well as the necessary support to maintain a healthy work life balance.
“I want to bring balance to the workplace,” Younce said. “Working in healthcare is hard, and we want to create a peaceful environment where team members feel supported and respect one another and a culture that people are proud to be a part of and want to stay.”
In his spare time, Younce enjoys spending time with his wife Meredith, a medical assistant at Mountain Family Care Center, and their four children, ranging from 11 to 18 years of age. He also enjoys singing and playing folk and country music. Prior to starting his career in human resources, Younce spent time performing as an actor and musician, and is looking forward to returning to his musical roots as time allows.
