AMH Foundation holds annual golf tournament
JEFFERSON, N.C. — The Ashe Memorial Hospital Foundation hosted its 29th Annual Frank M. James Golf Tournament on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Jefferson Landing Golf Club.
This year’s tournament, which featured a Captain’s Choice format, raised $58,000 for the Ashe Memorial Hospital Foundation. Twenty-eight community sponsors joined together in supporting the Ashe Memorial Hospital Foundation, including Novant Health which served as the tournament sponsor.
Following the two flights, prizes were awarded for first and second place net, first and second place gross and closest to the pin on par 3’s. Players also had the opportunity to swing for a chance to win $10,000 in the Hole-in-One Challenge.
“It was a beautiful day of golf and fundraising,” said Ashe Memorial Hospital Foundation director Becky Pearson. “We are thankful for our sponsors and partners who made the event a success.”
This year’s funds were unrestricted, allowing the foundation to use the money to best benefit the hospital. Over the past 29 years, the tournament has raised more than $1 million and provided support for projects, such as Mountain Hearts Wellness Center and 3D mammography, and renovations throughout the hospital, including the Emergency Department and the 2nd Floor Nurses Station, which will be completed in late October.

The tournament serves as the Ashe Memorial Hospital Foundation’s primary fundraising event. Next year will mark the 30th anniversary of the event and planning is already underway for 2024.
