The above wage range reflects the minimum, midpoint and maximum hourly rate for this position. New employees are hired between the minimum and midpoint of this range. The initial wage offered will be based on qualifications and experience.

    Qualifications:
    Education:Graduate of at least Associate of Nursing
    Experience:5 years of previous clinical experience in nursing; 3 years of management experience in nursing; knowledge of clinical practice, nursing administration, and human relations.
    Special Skills:Basic computer knowledge; understand technical information from supervisors, charts, reference books, manuals and labels; maintains correct nursing practices and skill levels to provide good patient care; maintains accurate record keeping and documentation of employee information/activities; completes work duties within time frame; uses proper communication skills when interacting with others; ability to move from one area of work to another without difficulty; ability to critique employee job performance in a constructive manner.
    Physical Requirements:Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds; visual and hearing ability for patient care activities; general indoor conditions; light noise; good verbal and written communication skills necessary for job requirements; call, weekend and evening work required.
    License Required:NC RN License; current CPR Certification within 1 month of hire; ACLS Certification or obtained during orientation period; NRP or NALS Certification or obtained during orientation period; PALS Certification or obtained during orientation period.

    Duties of the Job:

    1. Assigns duties and coordinates nursing functions.
    2. Observes, supervises and evaluates nursing care and visits patients to ensure that nursing care is carried out as directed, treatments are administered in accordance with physician's instructions. Keeps informed of special orders concerning patients.
    3. Directs preparation and maintenance of patients' clinical records.
    4. Participates in QI activities.
    5. Participates in orientation in-service and training of personnel.
    6. Accountable for smooth operations of departments throughout the hospital.
    7. Coaches/counsels/disciplines employees professionally and objectively in a timely manner. Builds morale of staff through praise for good work nominations for employee of quarter recognition.
    8. Communicates routinely with peers, Chief Nursing Officer, physicians and staff members regarding trends and/or problems throughout the hospital.
    9. Identifies problems affecting patients/visitors, employees, intra- and interdepartmental conflicts.
    10. Responds to emergency situations.
    11. Conducts monthly staff meetings.
    12. Performs payroll functions.
    13. Completes appropriate forms per hospital policy (i.e. absence forms, occurrence reports).
    14. Monitors monthly financial reports daily staffing acuities and makes appropriate adjustments.
    15. Knowledgeable of clinical nursing practice.
    16. Ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
    17. Ensures that nursing care is provided in conformance with North Carolina Nurse Practice Act.
    18. Prepares nursing schedule according to patients needs.
    19. Participates in various administrative duties, committees, budget preparation, hiring/firing decisions, and development and review of policies.
    20. Collaborates with Chief Nursing Officer to develop goals for Nursing Services.
    21. Completes performance evaluations of staff on assigned shift in a timely manner.
    22. Holds membership in one professional nursing organization.
    23. Performs direct patient care activities as needed.
