Ashe Memorial Hospital and Alliance Imaging have teamed up to expand its MRI services to better serve physicians and the patients in Ashe County and the surrounding communities. The expanded service is helping Ashe Memorial Hospital provide faster and more precise diagnoses to the people in our community. Patients must be referred by their physician.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a revolutionary diagnostic imaging technology that provides detailed pictures of the body without ionizing radiation. During this procedure, the patient is placed within a large magnet and radio waves are passed through the body, providing information about that part of the body to the computer, which, in turn displays the image. Computer-generated images clearly show healthy and diseased tissue in the brain, spine, joints, and many other parts of the body.
The GE Signa HDe 1.5 8-channel MRI system’s imaging technology at Ashe Memorial delivers the consistent and reliable high-definition MR images. Exclusive GE applications and reconstruction capabilities provide excellent imaging speed, resolution and contrast for all applications. The system utilizes state-of-the-art technology and has advantages over lower strength magnets in that it has the potential of providing a series of excellent images in a short period of time, eventually allowing more patients access to the scanner’s special capabilities.
The system is considered non-invasive and it offers fewer risks than some diagnostic alternatives. In addition, it may lessen the need for lengthy hospital stays, therefore reducing health care costs. |
