Anesthesia Department
The Anesthesia Department is made up of two dedicated and hardworking nurse anesthetists. Together Debbie Siders and Craig Jackson have over 44 years of experience providing anesthesia. The Anesthesia Department interviews all patients before surgery, explains the anesthesia process and discusses any options available. We have cared for patients of all ages, from infants to those over 100 years old. Each patient is treated as an individual and the anesthesia given is selected specifically for that patient. The Anesthesia Department offers services such as general or regional anesthesia for surgery, pain control for women in labor and epidural steroid injections. All of our services are available 24 hours a day/7 days a week. We, of the Anesthesia Department, are glad to be in a smaller hospital where our patients are friends, neighbors and family. Recently the department has purchased a new monitor with monies raised by the Ashe Memorial Hospital Foundation. This Thoracic Bio Impedence Device can measure multiple functions of the heart and blood vessels without using any needles or "invasive" techniques. We will be better able to monitor our anesthesia and the amount of IV fluids given during operations that are expected to take several hours or on patients that are suspected of having a "weak heart."
